Skywatch Friday - A Rare Sight In Northern Europe
I present to you a rare sight in northern Europe over the past week or so.
Yes - that's right - it is an aircraft. An ash cloud from and Icelandic volcano has done it's best to disrupt air travel and we now have aircraft in the skies again over Great Britain.

Taken last month - a winter scene in South Manchester next to the River Mersey. For once we have a clear blue winter sky in Manchester.

Snow In Manchester
We have had a lot of snow in Manchester this winter. Some fell just before Christmas but last night we had around six or seven inches dumped on us. I've lived in this city for nearly 25 years and it is the worst snow I've seen. I realise that many other places get a lot more (I know - I've been to Moscow in the winter). However, we in the UK and in Manchester in particular are totally unprepared for it.
This is the most amount of snow since 1981 - almost 30 years - and Manchester almost ground to a complete halt. As ill prepared as we are, it is going to get worse because temperatures are scheduled to stay below freezing at least until Saturday.
Tomorrow will be fun!
Here are four photos, taken this morning at around 7 am.
